The Amazone Balance saddle style chair from Score is an excellent solution for those concerned about ergonomics and who want to move away from static seating. The Amazone combines the posture-correcting benefits of a saddle seat with the "Balance" mechanism that permits the seat to continuously shift and adjust in response to movement throughout the day.

The Balance mechanism is located directly below the seat, letting the seat move and shift with any body movement. In order to accommodate diverse requirements the degree of resistance on the movement is easily adjusted with a few turns of the ring located just below the seat. This ring also doubles as a height adjustment release meaning that there is no need to reach and find a single lever when height adjustment is required, as the ring is accessible at any position.

The saddle of the Amazone Balance is a slightly narrower fit or "cut" than many other saddle seats and has a moderate pommel rise at the front. The smaller dimensions make it better suited for use by those of slender or petite builds. The narrower cut also means that it can accommodate positions higher than the 45° downward thigh angle commonly recommended for saddle sitting. This can be of value in situations such as dental care where the greater stability of a "standing" position is required while still having the supportive benefits of "sitting". The posture created by the Amazone Balance means that most individuals will find the majority of their weight supported by the chair with the balance shared between the feet.

The Kanewell Twin Compact Saddle Chair with Articulating Backrest was developed to provide those of smaller or more slender build with a seating option better suited to their needs. This saddle stool features a comfortable split-saddle seat with the added benefit of splay and tilt adjustment for a personalized fit. For situations where a backrest may be desired* this stool is also equipped with a generously padded height- and angle-adjustable backrest that can also tilt to align to the back. The primary design is very similar to other Kanewell Twin Saddle models, with the saddle offering the same amount of cushioning and the same degree of splay at the front. However, because this seat is specifically intended for those of smaller build, the seat halves do not separate at the rear as on the full-size Kanewell Twin saddles, but rather pivot from a single point at the rear of the saddle to achieve the outward splay at the front. In addition to the splay feature the saddle also features the same locking tilt that permits individuals to position the seat at an angle that is most suitable for their needs or comfort.

Saddle seats are well-suited for use in active office environments, at raised counters, elevated workstations, or anywhere there is a need to be able to move into close proximity to the working area—such as dental, medical, or veterinary practices. The upright posture provided by the saddle-seating encourages better back posture, provides a much greater range of movement than that available from traditional seats, and enables virtually effortless movement about a workspace. The split-saddle is designed to reduce pressure points and improve airflow for a cooler and more comfortable experience, especially during longer periods of concentrated work. In order to meet the needs of those of smaller build the saddle on the Kanewell Twin Compact Saddle Chair with Articulating Backrest is both narrower and shallower than the standard seat (see comparison here). Upholstered in high grade Vinyl that is waterproof and resistant to most common cleaners and disinfectant formulations, the Kanewell Twin Compact seats are available in two height ranges to accommodate individuals of varying heights. Large diameter (60 mm) casters offer smooth movement throughout the workspace. Optional accessories include a footring to provide stability and comfort support when the chair is elevated (the height of the footring is adjustable independently of the height of the chair) and fixed glides as an alternative to the casters.

* Note: Saddle seats are not typically promoted with back rests as the saddle stance naturally encourages better back posture. The addition of a back may also limit movement and reduce the ergonomic benefit of a saddle-style seat, as there can be a tendency to relax against the back, reducing the level of core muscle engagement. It is also more difficult to mount and dismount from a saddle when a backrest is present. If a backrest is not specifically needed the Kanewell Twin Compact Adjustable Saddle Seat is available as a non-backrest version.

The EQUESTRY Saddle Seat from ErgoVerse positions the body in an upright stance that is known to encourage upper body movement and deeper breathing. Together these have the potential to improve overall circulation and increase mental alertness. The upright stance also naturally realigns the spine and reduces the potential for lower back pain which is often associated with extended sitting. In addition it offers a significantly extended reach or "Comfort Zone" which reduces the risk of over-reaching.

The EQUESTRY Saddle Seat comes equipped with casters which lock when weight is lowered onto them, meaning that the chair does not move once one is seated. This makes this an ideal chair for those performing tasks which require fine control but also a full range of movement. The Twin Adjustable Saddle Chair with Backrest from Kanewell features the same comfortable split-saddle seat as the Twin Adjustable Saddle Stools. Along with seat width and angle adjustments, however, this model adds a large, generously padded fixed backrest for users who would benefit from the security of a seat back. (See note below.)

The 360° Arm Accessory from Kanewell can rotate to any position around the seat, enabling it to be used as an armrest for either the left or right arm, as a forward leaning or elbow support, or as a stretcher bar for the back. It can easily be locked into position when stability is required. The 360° Arm Accessory features a thick layer of polyurethane foam which creates a supportive but cushioned resting surface. The 360° Arm Accessory comes as a kit which includes both the 360° Arm Support Accessory as well as a replacement pneumatic spring. Installation on a new Kanewell Twin Adjustable Saddle Stool is done with ease, as part of the stool assembly. Retrofitting a fully assembled Stool requires removal and replacement of the existing gas lift cylinder with the unit included in the kit, thereby ensuring that the Stool retains is original range of height adjustment.

The HNDSFREE Saddle Seats from ErgoVerse are ideal for use where seat height adjustments may need to be made while the hands are otherwise engaged. The Foot Release Plate enables quick, easy, hands-free adjustment of the seat height from any point around the chair. Additionally, the straddle position ensures that the feet are well-planted for exceptional stability and upper body control, providing superior upper torso mobility and range of motion. The full 360° of free rotation facilitates easy alignment to patients and equipment or to reach other work areas as needed. The seat can be tilted forward up to 15°, and the gas lift cylinder allows the height of the seat to be adjusted from 24.8" to 30.3", making both models suitable for individuals ranging in heights from 5'7" to 6'2".

Model HSS-B-11209 offers all of the above features, with the addition of a padded, height and angle adjustable back support. The support is 8.5" wide by 10.5" high with a shallow curvature making it suitable for all body types.

The two HNDSFREE Saddle Seat models offer different styles of saddle. The saddle on the standard non-backrest model is a more traditional saddle shape, deeply dished and with overall larger dimensions, especially in the depth. This makes it better suited to those with larger builds. The back rest model has a saddle that is shallower in depth (front to back) and also flatter, making it more suitable to average or smaller individuals or where a more traditional stool height may occasionally be required.

Note: Sitting on a Saddle Seat creates a seating elevation higher than a standard chair. Saddle stools are therefore not generally recommended for use at a fixed-height office desk. The Salli MultiAdjuster features a lockable, adjustable version of Salli's patented split saddle seat design. This seat is designed to correctly position the user in such a way that their back is moved into an optimum upright posture. Weight is transferred onto the sitting bones and off of soft tissue, reducing uncomfortable pressure points. The MultiAdjuster feature permits width and splay adjustment of the independent halves and combines these features with a forward tilt option to further improve back posture for those desiring a greater forward tilt or who, in the course of their work, lean forward repeatedly or for extended periods. The infinitely variable forward tilt lowers the front of the saddle and reduces pressure in the lower pelvic region. The MultiAdjuster's design encourages an upright stance and open core which facilitates upper-body movement and can provide many of the benefits currently being attributed to Standing Workstations without the necessity of being on one's feet throughout the day.

Note: If the concept of width and splay adjustment has appeal but static sitting is not desired the SwingFit might be the solution as it features the same width/splay adjustment but combines it with a unique rocking mechanism which permits free seat movement in all directions.

Height adjustment of the gas spring lift is accomplished through a standard hand-controlled height adjustment lever. Available lift sizes and the corresponding heights they accommodate are as follows: Short (4'0" to 5'2"), Mid (5'1" to 6'1") and Tall (5'8" to 6'5"). The 5-point star base and lift are in an attractive chrome finish. The total weight of the chair is 11.1 kg (24.4 lb).The MultiAdjuster is only available by Special Order and can be purchased upholstered in either genuine leather or polyurethane faux leather, each available in a range of colours.

The NOSTND Perching Comfort PLUS Saddle Seat from ErgoVerse is designed to position the torso and arms as close as possible to a raised workstation, particularly those built on top of base cabinets or shelves. Unlike the seats on a leaning seat or traditional stool, the large plush saddle on the NOSTND is designed to be straddled. Seated posture on the NOSTND is more upright, with the heels positioned behind the bend of the knees, rather than extended forward of the knees as they would be in a leaning position. This posture allows individuals to move in much closer to flat-fronted work surfaces than might otherwise be possible. As a result, the NOSTND Perching Comfort PLUS Saddle Seat helps to reduce the risk of overreach injuries to the shoulders and back, and the risk of injury to the muscles of the sides and mid-section caused by sitting sideways along the base of the workstation and twisting at the waist to get close enough to its surface. By providing a centrally supported seat that bears the upper body weight, the NOSTND also helps to reduce the load generally borne by the feet and legs. Overall fatigue, and the risk of strain on the joints and tissues of the lower limbs can be greatly reduced.

Both the saddle style seat and the large back feature 3" cushioning; and both are height adjustable. The height of the seat can be adjusted between 23.25" and 28.75". The height adjustment range of the back is determined by the seat position. A convenient handle and large rollers on the rear glides let the NOSTND be moved with ease when required. The NOSTND dual rectangular steel tube base is rated to support up to 440 pounds.

The Salli Chin is a more economical model of the premium Salli Twin model, and provides all the orthopedic support and benefits that come from the patented split saddle seat design. The Chin differs in that it has a lighter seat frame, standard (as compared to premium) components, and only one colour option.

The split saddle seat design maintains the natural shape of the spine, strongly influencing the user to have good posture while sitting and working. The gap allows the tailbone to 'float', minimizing soft tissue pressures and spinal loads. The width of the two halves of the saddle seat are fixed and cannot adjust but the design accommodates most individuals body types.

A standard hand-controlled height adjustment lever for adjustment of the gas spring lift accommodates most adults. Available lift sizes and the corresponding heights they accommodate are as follows: Short (4'0" to 5'2, Mid (5'1" to 6'1") and Tall (5'8" to 6'5"). The 5-point star base and lift are in an attractive chrome finish.The Salli Chin is is available in either Black Leather or Black Polyurethane (synthetic leather).

The EQUSIT Saddle Drafting Chair from ErgoVerse features a heavily padded, tilting, bicycle-style seat mounted to an elevated heavy duty steel frame. A gas spring provides a cushioned seat height range from 27.75" to 36.6", sufficient to provide a suitable seating height for most individuals working at elevated workstations. The wide back features 2" thick cushioning and has independent height and angle adjustments to optimize the comfort and ergonomic positioning.

Two footrest options are available. Model ESDC-83015 features a large 22.8" diameter heavy steel footring that includes a convenient height-adjustable (minimum of 9" above the floor) 360° fixed footrest. Model ESDC-F-83016 features a folding height-adjustable (also to a minimum height of 9") 120° footrest with angle adjustment. For safety, the steel footplate has an aggressively treaded surface. Both styles of footrest can be secured at greater elevations if necessary.

Both models also have oversized 27" diameter Chromed Steel bases equipped with glides. The large base and glides ensure stability when mounting and dismounting from the saddle. If desired, the base on Model ESDC-F-83016 can be folded flat for storage.
