The LeanRite Elite Standing Chair from Ergo Impact is an ideal seating solution for individuals who wish to spend most of their sit-stand desk time out of a traditional seated position. The wonderful thing about the Swopper from Aeris is that it is ideal for those who want to engage in active movement throughout the day. Bounce, Lean, Tilt, or Spin – the Swopper excels at all of these. Sitting atop the Swopper’s large cushioned seat is an experience in both movement and comfort. While the Swopper is new to our site, it has a long history, having been introduced almost 30 years ago.

The core of the Swopper is the Aeris 3D design. The large circular base ensures a stable platform regardless of the degree of movement. Incorporated into the base is a unique tilting mechanism with adjustable resistance that permits the entire seat to angle up to 12.5° from vertical in any direction – forward, backward, and sideways. Simple, almost effortless intuitive adjustments to the centre of balance will have the seat leaning in the desired direction. The TULEAN Leaning Stool is a robust and functional sit-stand seat from ErgoVerse. It features a heavy-duty, large diameter tubular steel base topped with a cushioning, infinitely-adjustable gas spring lift. A convenient tilt option lets the seat be positioned flat for sitting or angled forward up to 15° for leaning. Black textured powder-coating on the frame provides a pleasant appearance in addition to resisting marks and rust. Large plastic glides provide stable positioning and small rollers integrated into the rear glides facilitate easy movement of the 17.6 lb (8 kg) seat between working points.

The TULEAN Leaning Stool features a firm, padded seat that is available with either a faux leather or fabric cover. Its appearance and comfortable cushioning make this model more aesthetically suited to an office environment. Warehouse or manufacturing facility applications may benefit from a model such as the RISON that is equipped to withstand the rougher treatment encountered in these environments.

Gas spring lifts provide two ranges of adjustment which will meet the seating needs of most people, regardless of height. The Muvman from Aeris is a premium leaning seat designed to encourage active movement throughout the day while working at adjustable or elevated workstations. The movement is achieved through a pivot joint at the base that accommodates movement in all directions. As the range of movement is explored the torso and hips become actively engaged in making continuous subtle adjustments. This means that rather than simply reducing the weight on the legs (as traditional fixed lean-to stools accomplish), this pivoting capability allows the Muvman to continuously adjust to movement throughout the day. The Muvman is also ergonomically beneficial in that it encourages an upright posture, and when used as a leaning seat it greatly reduces the strain on the lower spine when compared to a traditional seated position.

The well-padded Flexzone Seat (available in fabric or leatherette) on the Muvman has a slight convex contour that lets the seat mould itself to the body, preventing pressure points. The seat also easily rotates to the left or right, offering extended movement range while at a workstation, but has a spring-assisted “return to neutral” feature that ensures the seat is always centred and ready for use. The raised handle at the rear makes movement of the lightweight (13.9 lb) Muvman very simple but also serves to encourage one to adopt an optimal seating position. The seat on the Muvman is supported by an adjustable column that leans forward at 4°, encouraging a forward tilt on the pelvis to help support a healthy S-Curve in the spine. From the default position the column can also tilt about 7° throughout the full 360°. Easy-touch buttons on the underside of the seat facilitate infinite height adjustment between 20" and 33.5". The broad range makes the Muvman suitable for heights ranging from 4’6” to over 6’, while also accommodating a range of seating positions. The Muvman also becomes an in-between seating option for short-term tasks, making the transition to and from a standing position become almost effortless.

The 15” diameter base is equipped with non-slip rubber to ensure safety on any flooring, and because the Muvman has a limited tilt angle it also ensures that the overall footprint of the seat is limited, keeping the base in close proximity to the torso.

The SAIPH Foot Brace Rail is designed for those who would like to brace their feet against a sturdy, slip-free support, or when one would like to prop one foot up from time to time when standing to alleviate strain on the lower back.

Caution: The Muvman should not be used with a standard foot rest, especially those with non-locking foot platforms.

The Twixt Active Seating Chair from Safco Products is intended to subtly encourage the user to actively engage their core muscles in movement through the course of the day. The Twixt is supported by a sturdy cast aluminum base equipped with a flexible ring that can compress as users lean away from the vertical, permitting the seat to tilt in any direction the user chooses. The large 15.5" diameter seat is well padded, with waterfall edges to reduce the potential of encountering pressure points from the seat edge. The LOTAH Perching Comfort Saddle Seat from ErgoVerse is well-suited to applications where work must be performed on surfaces positioned over cabinets or shelves. The LOTAH features a large plush saddle that is straddled. This straddle posture positions the heels behind the bend of the knees, rather than extended forward of the knees as they would be on a leaning stool. The Stance Move chair's unique design lets workers shift between multiple sitting positions throughout the day. Each of these options moves workers away from the static closed-core position that traditional seating creates. The backless design encourages them to maintain an upright stance by actively supporting their pelvis in a forward tilt which improves back posture. This position encourages strengthening of core muscles as they are required to maintain torso balance at all three settings. By removing the seat back the risk of slouching or rounding of the lower back is significantly reduced, which in turn can reduce the risk and occurrence of lower back pain which is often related to traditional seating.

With a simple move of a lever the Stance Move converts into a kneeling stance, a well-known posture which positively encourages proper spine positioning by tilting the pelvis even further forward than the Forward Tilt mode. The Kneeling position has been used in many workplaces throughout the years. The thick kneeling cushions support the knees and spread pressure to enable workers to comfortably maintain this position for extended periods.

For those who prefer a more upright position or who wish to fully vary their seating throughout the day, the Assisted Standing position is the third position offered. Those using Sit-Stand workstations have well have found that standing for extended periods can be exhausting. This is due to the standing position requiring that muscles to be held in constant tension in order to be able to maintain that static position. As these individuals have discovered, muscle fatigue can occur even in a standing position. As well, the lower legs and feet begin to tire over the course of the day, resulting in an overall loss of energy. This loss of energy will translate into a more "slumped" posture as the body tires. The slumped position then further accentuates the fatigue as it puts strain on muscles and tendons which are already tired from extended use. The Assisted Standing position is intended to address this as it takes a percentage of the weight load and transfers it to the chair rather than placing it directly over the feet and legs. The enables the muscles of the legs and lower back to relax, thereby reducing the fatigue related to continuous tension. The release of muscle tension in the lower legs will also permit better bloodflow in the legs, something which is a known concern related to extended static standing.

The Stance Move is designed for users up to 5'9". Taller individuals will benefit from the Stance Move EXT 5050 which comes with a seat extension.

The WTRFL Perching Seat from ErgoVerse offers an angle-adjustable, contoured seating surface for both perching and leaning applications. The naturally-shaped seat features a flowing design with a softly rounded front that rises slightly to provide a "ledge" effect that can counter the "slippage" sensation that flatter seats may generate.
