The Focal Fidget Active Stool from Safco Products is a lightweight portable stool that encourages users to actively engage in subtle movements while still remaining seated. The Fidget features a slightly curved bottom plate that enables continuous rocking movements in all directions. The contoured EVA Foam seat cushion provides a comfortable seating experience, whether for just a couple of minutes or for more extended periods. The base is constructed of ABS Plastic and reinforced Nylon with a steel support column capable of supporting up to 300 lbs.
The Fidget Active Stool comes in 3 heights to serve the seating requirements of a wide range of people. The 18" and 22" models will serve most adults for sitting at a traditional office desk or table height, while the 14" model is better suited to the needs of children sitting at a lower height of table or desk. Note: The Fidget Active Stool is not designed or intended as a long-term seating solution and as such should not be considered for this application. There are numerous other traditional and alternative seating solutions much better suited for long-term sitting.

The RISON Sit-Stand Stool (Classic) from Mey Chair Systems offers users the option of intermittently adopting a sitting position throughout the workday. Employing the RISON to bear the bulk of body weight permits the feet and legs to rest, reducing fatigue and potentially contributing to a more alert user.
The non-vertical, or leaning, stance effectively reduces the weight load on the joints of both the legs and the feet as the stool, rather than the legs and feet, becomes the load bearing support. The ability to position the seat in an elevated position also significantly reduces the effort required to return to a fully standing position. The shock absorbing effect of the easily adjusted gas cylinder provides additional comfort when the user sits down.
The non-pivoting seat offers an infinitely adjustable height range from 26" - 35.5" - suitable for users from about 5'2" up to 6'6". The polyurethane seat provides a firm yet cushioned seating surface with raised texture bumps. The detachable back support is also formed from the same foam as the seat. (Note: The back on the 11120 has a 2.5" deep curvature in the middle, is 14" wide, and has firm edges. Some users with broader frames may find the back on this model too narrow and deep for a comfortable fit. As an alternative they may wish to consider the EZSIT Comfort Elite Sit-Stand Stool , also from Mey Chair Systems, which offers a broader back (and seat) better suited to users of larger build.)
While the seat does offer the option of tilting it to accommodate a "leaning" position rather than the seated position the fact that the back support on this model is rigidly mounted to the tilting mechanism means that it is really only suitable for upright sitting (ie. when tilted the back follows the movement of the seat and prevents the adoption of a proper upright stance. Users wishing to use this seat as a "leaning" seat should consider the current model of the RISON which now incorporates independent back angle adjustment into the seat mechanism. The current seat-only version of the RISON is also available in two height ranges to accommodate the varying needs of users.
The heavy-duty textured black tubular steel base on the RISON Sit-Stand Leaning Stool is designed for industrial settings but functions well in many offices, providing strength and stability. Strong nylon glides engage the floor to ensure firm positioning of the seat and the incorporated rollers permit the chair to be easily moved between workstations. The unique design of the base maximizes stability while greatly reducing the risk of tripping for passersby.

The LOTAH Perching Comfort Saddle Seat from ErgoVerse is well-suited to applications where work must be performed on surfaces positioned over cabinets or shelves. The LOTAH features a large plush saddle that is straddled. This straddle posture positions the heels behind the bend of the knees, rather than extended forward of the knees as they would be on a leaning stool. (See this image of the Tulean Leaning Stool, also by ErgoVerse, for an illustration of this latter position.) This posture keeps the back in an ergonomically desirable upright orientation, while positioning the torso much closer to flat-fronted work surfaces than is possible with other seating or leaning solutions. As a result, the LOTAH Perching Comfort Saddle Seat helps to reduce the risk of overreach injuries to the muscles of the shoulders and back, and the risk of injury to the muscles of the sides and mid-section caused by sitting sideways along the base of the workstation and twisting at the waist to get close enough to its surface. The LOTAH Perching Comfort Saddle Seat also helps to reduce the load borne by the feet and legs for those who work at elevated workstations by transferring the majority of weight onto the seat. As a result overall fatigue is reduced with an accompanying improvement of the ability to maintain focus and concentration.
Built on a heavy tubular steel base with a gas spring that enables a height adjustment range of 24.8" to 31.5", and with a seat that has 15° of tilt range and 3" of cushioning, the LOTAH offers individualized comfort and long-term durability. Rollers built into the rear glides also let the LOTAH moved across hard-surfaced floors with ease.

The SRLYN Perching Seat from ErgoVerse offers those working at height-adjustable workstations the option of an elevated perching seat or a leaning stance. The SRLYN helps to reduce strain on the legs and feet as well as on the muscles of the lower back and core. The leaning position also minimizes the effort required to return to a fully standing position and permits a greater range of motion and greater reach than does a standard seated position.
The SRLYN Perching Seat features an infinitely adjustable height range from 26.4" to 35.8" and locking forward tilt adjustment from 5° up to 20°. The 14.2" wide by 12.6" deep formed polyurethane seat provides a large firm cushioned seating surface with an integrated handle for ease of movement. (Note: Individuals under 5'6" may find this seat too high but those who are taller might benefit from its greater upper range as it can accommodate heights up to 6'6".)
Strong nylon glides engage the floor to ensure secure positioning of the seat. The convenient integrated handle can be used to tip the SRLYN onto the small transport rollers incorporated into the rear glides for movement about a workspace. The unique design of the heavy-duty textured black tubular steel base maximizes stability while also greatly reducing the risk of tripping for passersby. Though this ruggedly designed seat has an industrial look it can also work well in an office setting.

The LOBAK Perching Seats from ErgoVerse are ideal as temporary perching seats. The short raised back encourages individuals to sit upright on the seat, adopting a posture that encourages correct spinal alignment. The tilt-adjustable seat also offers the option of using the LOBAK as a leaning stool.
The firm polyurethane foam seat is waterproof and highly resistant to cuts or punctures, with raised ridges to encourage air flow for a cooler surface. Height adjustment is accomplished with a gas spring that also serves as a shock absorber by providing a cushioning effect when weight is lowered onto the seat. The angle of the seat is adjustable from 3° to 17° to permit each person to find the position that offers the greatest comfort.
The LOBAK Perching Seat is available in two models. Model 11002 features a locking clamp that secures the seat in an upright position but permits the base to fold up against the seat support for storage. Seat height on the 11002 ranges from 23.2" to 30.7" and is suitable for those of average height. Model 11050 features the same seat on a chromed steel, fixed (non-folding) base. With a seat height range from 24.4" up to 34.6", this model is still suitable for most average height individuals but can also comfortably meet the requirements of those standing up to approximately 6'4".

The new Stance Angle Chair from Health Postures reinterprets the industry leading concepts of their original Stance Chair. Workers are once again able to enjoy the benefits of an office chair which effortlessly converts between Sitting, Kneeling and Assisted Standing. The Stance Angle Chair is the ideal seating solution for true Sit-Stand Workstations as it supplies an ergonomic "seating" solution for each style of working. Ahead of its time in addressing the requirements of the Sit-Stand working environment, the Stance has now come of age in a streamlined, more compact version—the Stance Angle.
The innovative design of the Stance Angle Chair makes it an ideal companion to sit-stand workstations, enabling workers to seamlessly transition between Sitting, Kneeling, Assisted Standing (Leaning) and Standing throughout their workday. The freedom to effortlessly move between different postures will encourage regular movement, a key factor in achieving a healthy active-working environment. Unlike traditional seating which needs to be moved out of the way when moving from sitting to standing, the Stance Angle Chair simply adapts to the desired posture, even offering a third position—"Kneeling"— which actively encourages correct spinal alignment and can aid in strengthening lower back muscles. When in the "Assisted Standing" mode it is possible to rest against the back of the Stance Angle while also reducing the load on the lower limbs and joints, further reducing overall fatigue and contributing to a higher degree of alertness and greater productivity. The Stance Angle also features easily adjustable armrests which provide support to the arms in all three positions, reducing the risk of strain to the neck and shoulders even when standing.
The ease with which the Stance Angle Chair moves between working positions removes any obstacle for those who seek to actively shift between positions throughout the day. It also facilitates greater engagement in work as circulation is increased through the increased movement, leading to a reductioin in fatigue.

The Stance Move chair's unique design lets workers shift between multiple sitting positions throughout the day. Designed with Sit-Stand workstations in mind, it provides three distinct seating positions - Forward Sloped Sitting, Kneeling, and Assisted Standing. Each of these options moves workers away from the static closed-core position that traditional seating creates. The backless design encourages them to maintain an upright stance by actively supporting their pelvis in a forward tilt which improves back posture. This position encourages strengthening of core muscles as they are required to maintain torso balance at all three settings. By removing the seat back the risk of slouching or rounding of the lower back is significantly reduced, which in turn can reduce the risk and occurrence of lower back pain which is often related to traditional seating.
With a simple move of a lever the Stance Move converts into a kneeling stance, a well-known posture which positively encourages proper spine positioning by tilting the pelvis even further forward than the Forward Tilt mode. The Kneeling position has been used in many workplaces throughout the years. The thick kneeling cushions support the knees and spread pressure to enable workers to comfortably maintain this position for extended periods.
For those who prefer a more upright position or who wish to fully vary their seating throughout the day, the Assisted Standing position is the third position offered. Those using Sit-Stand workstations have well have found that standing for extended periods can be exhausting. This is due to the standing position requiring that muscles to be held in constant tension in order to be able to maintain that static position. As these individuals have discovered, muscle fatigue can occur even in a standing position. As well, the lower legs and feet begin to tire over the course of the day, resulting in an overall loss of energy. This loss of energy will translate into a more "slumped" posture as the body tires. The slumped position then further accentuates the fatigue as it puts strain on muscles and tendons which are already tired from extended use. The Assisted Standing position is intended to address this as it takes a percentage of the weight load and transfers it to the chair rather than placing it directly over the feet and legs. The enables the muscles of the legs and lower back to relax, thereby reducing the fatigue related to continuous tension. The release of muscle tension in the lower legs will also permit better bloodflow in the legs, something which is a known concern related to extended static standing.
The Stance Move is designed for users up to 5'9". Taller individuals will benefit from the Stance Move EXT 5050 which comes with a seat extension.

The WTRFL Perching Seat from ErgoVerse offers an angle-adjustable, contoured seating surface for both perching and leaning applications. The naturally-shaped seat features a flowing design with a softly rounded front that rises slightly to provide a "ledge" effect that can counter the "slippage" sensation that flatter seats may generate. The rounded waterfall front then drops down and away, eliminating uncomfortable sharp pressure lines against the back of the legs.
The firm polyurethane foam seat is waterproof and highly resistant to cuts or punctures, with formed channels facilitating cooling air flow. Height adjustment is accomplished with a gas spring that also serves as a shock absorber by providing a cushioning effect when weight is brought to bear. The seat angle is adjustable from 0° to 14° to let every individual find a comfortable position. A convenient handle is integrated into the back of the seat for ease of movement about the workspace.

The Mobis Seat is part of the next generation of lean-to (or -into) stools. Its unique design permits 6º of pivoting movement in all directions through a secure pivot point at the base. Rather than simply reducing the workload on the legs by taking the weight of the upper body (which traditional lean-to stools accomplish), this pivoting capability allows the Mobis to move with users as they perform tasks. This light-weight, elegant, grab-and-go version of the Locus Seat supports the body in a relaxed, upright posture. The Mobis Seat has a range suitable for people from 4'11" to 6'8" tall. Dual lift controls let it be easily adjusted for work surfaces of varying heights. The small footprint of the Mobis also makes it ideal for anyone creating a workstation that includes sitting or standing. By providing an in-between seating option for short-term tasks, the transition to a standing position becomes almost effortless. The Mobis offers enough support to keep fatigue at bay, while still allowing the user to rotate a full 360º, to turn from side to side, and to flex forward, backward and laterally. The Mobis is ideal for bistro and raised conference room table applications. Offering many real ergonomic benefits and improved comfort, the Mobis is also a uniquely styled seating option that will make a positive statement about the workplace, as well as the occupant of the workstation.
All Mobis Seats feature a Black base with Silver gas lift. The four available colours of seat (Black, Chili Pepper Red, Citrus Orange, and Blue) let users select the model which best suits their environment.
Mobis users might consider adding the Focal Foot Bar, to their workstation. The Focal Foot Bar is designed for users who would like to brace their feet against a sturdy, slip-free support when working at a sit-stand workstation, or who would like to prop one foot up from time to time when standing to alleviate strain on the lower back.
Caution: Focal Upright recommends against using the Mobis Seat with a standard foot rest, especially those with non-locking foot platforms.

The FYLDST Foldable Leaning Stool from ErgoVerse can provide leaning, perching, or even sitting options. While all three positions reduce the weight load and stress on the joints of the legs and feet, the leaning and perching positions are especially beneficial as they make it possible to quickly move back to a fully standing position with minimal effort.
Designed for portability, and weighing only 14.3 lbs, the FYLDST lets individuals easily move their seat with them between locations or job sites. This stool offers an extended range of seat height adjustment from 21.25" to 35.4" which will accommodate most heights and is rated to support 264 lbs. Heavy rectangular tube steel construction, simple folding hinges, and handwheel adjustment of seat height mean this chair will last through years of heavy use. The fixed, formed polyurethane seat angles slightly down at 10°, providing a comfortable resting place when needed, well suited to perching or leaning. The textured surface of the seat facilitates airflow and makes the seat feel softer, improving comfort.
The simple design of this model results in a fixed and rigid seating position, with the only cushioning being that of the reasonably firm formed-polyurethane seat. Those looking for more cushioning or not requiring portability may wish to consider one of the numerous other models from ErgoVerse, that greater cushioning in the seats or gas spring cylinders for shock absorbance.
