The Evoluent Essentials Full Featured Compact Keyboard features full-sized keycaps with a standard key pitch (i.e. the distance between each key cap) of 19.05 mm, unlike most other "compact" keyboard which have reduced keycap size and spacing. Above the alphnumeric keys is a bank of twelve half-height hot keys for quick access to frequently used functions such as Cut, Copy, and Paste along with multimedia and power controls. The keyboard has a neutral (flat) profile and crisp, high quality scissor-switch membrane keyswitches. Raised dots and ridges help experienced typists identify important landmark keys by touch.

The low profile of this keyboard, at just under 1 cm, means that the risk of wrist extension that can lead to chronic pain in the hands and wrists is almost eliminated. The reduced narrow footprint achieved with the elimination of the numeric keys at the right also means that whether one positions their mouse to the left or the right, the distance being reached is minimal, reducing the risk of problems associated with overreaching when using a standard fullsize keyboard.

Note: The Evoluent Essentials Full Featured Compact Keyboard offers the familiar row of numbers along the top, but does not have an embedded number pad or an embedded navigation layer. The Mini Quiet Pro keyboard by Matias is a high-performance compact keyboard for desktop (i.e. non-portable) applications. Featuring a standard layout of all but a couple of keys and standard key spacing, the Mini Quiet Pro eliminates two issues found in many compact keyboards. First, the standard spacing and layout significantly flatten any learning curve, all but guaranteeing rapid adaptation to the compact design. Second, an embedded numeric keypad provides full functionality while still preserving the clear ergonomic benefit of a reduced reach for the mouse.

The Matias Mini Quiet Pro features mechanical keyswitches that use Matias Quiet Click technology. The Posturite Number Slide Compact Keyboard helps to reduce the risks associated with overreaching for the mouse without sacrificing the convenience of an integrated numeric keypad. Housed within the body of the keyboard, the numeric keypad remains tucked out of the way until needed, allowing individuals to keep the mouse closer within the Comfort Zone when the numeric keypad is not in use. When extensive numeric entry is required the number pad is easily extended and is just as easily stored away again when no longer needed.

The keyboard features scissor-switch keyswitches with chiclet (or island-style) key caps. One of the most versatile keyboards currently available, the Freestyle2 is an adjustable, separated keyboard offering a wide range of ergonomic capabilities. The Freestyle2 Keyboard is divided into two separate modules connected by either a 9" (standard) or 20" cable. This separation enables individuals to position the left and right sides of the keyboard shoulder width apart, allowing the shoulders, elbows, arms and wrists to relax in an anatomically neutral position. This greatly improves posture and blood flow in the upper body, prevents undesirable rotation at the shoulders, and eliminates ulnar deviation at the wrist.

The compact symmetrical layout is achieved by removing the numeric keypad found on the right side of most keyboards. This reduces the reach for the mouse for right-handed individuals and optimizes the workspace for both left- and right-handed workers. The Freestyle2 Keyboard provides access to numbers along the top row, as well as via an easily toggled numeric layer embedded into the right-hand module. For those who require a standalone numeric keypad, Kinesis offers several options (see the accessories section below).

The Freestyle2 Keyboard features low-force, full-travel (3.9 mm) tactile membrane keyswitches. At only 45 grams, this less force than most traditional and even many other ergonomic keyboards. Rated at 10 million actuations, the keyswitches on the Freestyle2 will provide years of quiet, comfortable typing.

Note: The Freestyle2 Keyboard comes with a component that secures the two modules together at a pivot point. Although this Pivot Tether is intended primarily to secure the two modules during transport, it can be used, to create a splayed (i.e. joined at the centre top) keyboard. However, this configuration will significantly curtail the ergonomic benefits.

Both US English and French Canadian Dual-Legended (i.e. bilingual) models are available.

The Goldtouch Elite Adjustable Keyboard is a revised and improved version of the Goldtouch V2 Adjustable Keyboard. The Elite model is equipped with half-height keycaps topping membrane keyswitches rated at 45-55g average force. The lower profile keycaps also facilitate a lower profile housing and thus an overall height reduction to help reduce the risk of wrist extension while typing. The redesigned "squeeze lever" also makes it easy to ensure that angle and tilt adjustments are retained - once adjustments are made the lever is released and the setting locks in while the hands hold the keyboard in position. As with its predecessors, the Goldtouch Elite offers adjustment of splay and tent. While the 30° splay range is virtually identical to earlier models, it is now possible to adjust the vertical tenting up to a full 60°, double the earlier 30° range of earlier models. With these two adjustments it is possible to adjust the keyboard to address individual concerns and body type to reduce the risks of RSI associated with pronation, ulnar deviation, and wrist extension. The compact design, achieved by the elimination of the traditional discrete numeric keypad, also helps to prevent strain in the shoulder and neck muscles that can be caused by overreaching for the mouse. The Mini Keyboard from Solidtek offers a very narrow footprint of just 11.3" that serves well where space is extremely limited or where the reach to the mouse needs to be significantly reduced. It achieves this by eliminating the traditional numeric keypad and replacing it with an embedded numeric keypad with legends clearly marked on the front face of the keycaps. This embedded keypad is located in the right half of the keyboard, with function accessed via the FN key. To make the keyboard even more compact, only the alpha-numeric keys are full-size and standard 19.4 mm spacing. The remainder of the keys are significantly narrower, with just 14 mm spacing which can make accurate targeting more difficult, especially for those with larger fingers.

The Mini Keyboard employs membrane keyswitches with a shorter-than-average travel distance (3 mm instead of the standard 4 mm) and has a somewhat pronounced positive incline (i.e. it is higher at the back than at the front), in spite of the comparatively low profile it presents. In general, a neutral (flat), or negative incline is advisable for those experiencing pain in the backs of the hands, wrists, or forearms. The mWave for PC Mechanical Keyboard from Kinesis Corporation will look very familiar to those familiar with the discontinued Microsoft Sculpt Ergonomic Keyboard. Visually it features the same familiar layout (but with the key addition of an FN key - a known weakness of the Microsoft Sculpt layout), very similar contours, and a slightly narrower footprint. Kinesis has added a number of subtle improvements that may not be readily apparent.

While visually very similar to the Microsoft Sculpt the mWave is equipped with more traditional crowned keycaps, with a secondary colour for home row keys as a visual cue for finger placement. In addition, the home row and arrow keys have a more distinct concave surface, providing a tactile indicator to enhance finger placement. The keyboard is also equipped with white backlighting when in the wired mode, with laser-etched shine-through keycaps for typing in low-light environments. The backlighting can be set to three levels of intensity, or turned off.

Below the keycaps are the most important feature, Gateron low profile mechanical switches, available in two styles. The Gateron Brown Tactile mechanical keyswitches offer a 55 gram activation and provide both tactile and a low-level audible feedback upon activation, with a full travel of 3 mm and 1.3 mm of post-activation movement. The mWave is also available with Gateron Red Quiet Linear switches, for those who prefer the consistent 45 gram force throughout the keystroke or who desire a quieter typing experience. Both of these switches offer a greatly enhanced and more responsive typing experience. Paired with all of the features above is the option of driverless advanced programming. Whether there is a desire to customize a single key function or to entirely re-program the entire layout, the Kinesis Clique web-based programming interface (requires Chrome or Edge browser) provides access to almost unlimited custom programming options. The mWave has a soft integrated cushioned palm support with a washable surface and includes three legs that attach magnetically to elevate the front of the support to create a 5° negative tilt. The Full Travel Mini Keyboard from SolidTek features full size alpha-numeric keys and key pitch, with the remaining keys reduced in width to reduce the overall footprint.
