The X-Keys L-Trac Black Trackball from PI Engineering combines a high level optical sensor capable of resolutions up to 1600 CPI (counts per inch) with a robust build and history of durability, reliability and performance, carrying on the legacy of the L-Trac and PC-Trac Trackballs formerly manufactured by Clearly Superior Technologies. The L-Trac features an optical laser sensor that offers "button selectable" tracking resolutions of 400, 800 and 1600 CPI, easily changed on the fly. Combined with this is the ability of the L-Trac to track at speeds exceeding 30 inches per second, even at a 20G acceleration rate. A wide light touch scroll wheel or cylinder is readily accessible, located above the center button. In addition, two 3.5 mm jacks permit the attachment of two external switches which can be programmed to perform an additional two actions, resulting in full 5-button functionality. The programming software can also be used to disable or reassign any or all of the on-board buttons when used with external switches in an assistive application.

The L-Trac provides users with a precision, high performance pointing device. The large 57 mm diameter weighted trackball produces predictable, quick, and precise cursor control. Most users will find that movement becomes intuitive within a few minutes of use, with the level of control increasing over time.

The level of performance and range of features, coupled with the proven contour of the L-Trac makes these trackballs an appropriate option for all applications including general computing, gaming and Computer Aided Design (CAD). CAD users love it because a line can be dragged one pixel even on high resolution displays. Then, with a button stroke, the cursor can fly around the screen to get general tasks done. The L-Trac is known for providing fingertip control and precision, high performance tracking.

Designed to minimize the effects of contamination build up and the resultant degradation of performance, this high performance laser trackball uses highly polished stainless steel rollers. These rollers tend to collect less dirt and debris than the mechanisms used in most other trackballs and are easily cleaned by spinning the ball rapidly.

The n-ABLER PRO Trackball from Pretorian is specifically designed to address the needs of individuals with limited hand control, motor skill difficulties, poor hand-eye coordination, lack of manual dexterity and involuntary muscle spasms. This functionality is packaged in a "Professional" housing that will blend easily into office or classroom environments, reducing undesired attention. The glossy silver upper housing offers limited resistance to hand repositioning and the black buttons feature contrasting white legends for increased visibility.

The n-ABLER PRO Trackball offers the same basic functions (cursor control, left click, right click, double click, and drag lock) as does the standard n-ABLER Trackball but in addition also offers a locking "pan" function which enables vertical and horizontal scrolling using the trackball without the need to hold down a button. It also features an "Anti-Tremor" function with three settings to enhance cursor control for those experiencing hand tremors of varying degrees.

Cursor control is provided by a large 63 mm, free-running ball which responds to minimal effort. To avoid accidental movement the trackball projects only slightly above the housing, with the activation buttons fully recessed to avoid accidental activation as well as to aid in button targeting. Dual mini-phono jacks permit the attachment of a variety of external switches to provide easier access to the Left and Right click functions. Those who find the traditional orientation unsuitable have the option of 'teaching' the trackball to orient itself at 90° increments, freeing them to change the housing orientation for optimum usage and comfort. The trackball also offers an optional buzzer setting which provides notification as specific functions are activated or deactivated.

NEW FEATURES:
Dwell Clicker: This new function can be used to program one of FOUR actions to automatically activate when the cursor is positioned over a clickable point. The available actions are: left click, right click, double click, or drag-lock. The delay period is customizable to meet indivdual needs.
Customize External Switch Functions: Earlier models of the n-Abler PRO Joystick only offered Left and Right click functions for external switches. Using the new on-board "Socket Learn Mode" it is now possible to assign pan, double click, drag lock, and Speed Control functions to either of the external switch inputs.

The design of the n-ABLER PRO Trackball offers fingertip precision control and requires only minimal hand movement. This can reduce wrist and elbow fatigue, as it requires noticeably less effort. The symmetrical design facilitates working with either hand without having to angle the wrist, and the unit can also be configured for left-handed operation (left & right button functions swapped). Its large, integrated hand support/palm rest makes work posture more relaxed and less strained.

Note: The release of iOS13 for Apple portable devices included support for USB Pointing Devices. This means that virtually all of the Pretorian Mouse Replacement solutions can now be used with iPads and iPhones that have iOS13 or newer. Connection to the portable device requires a camera adapter cable. Because the mousing device will be powered by the phone or tablet it is preferable to use one with pass-through charging so the portable device can charge while the mousing device is attached and in use.

The Optima Trackball from Pretorian is a durable desktop trackball designed with the requirements of users with limited motor skills in mind, yet totally suitable for use by a wide range of users. The angled housing provides an ergonomically supportive position for the hand by providing a place to rest during use.

The large 2" diameter trackball rises 0.7" above the trackball housing, presenting a significant profile for the hand to make contact with. The free-running trackball is securely mounted in the housing and offers smooth movement from even a light touch. Tracking is provided by an optical sensor which eliminates mechanical parts which can fail from wear while still offering precise tracking and cursor control.

Colour-coded and recessed control buttons for Left Click, Right Click, and Drag-Lock are positioned above the trackball. The recessed location assists users in guiding their fingers to the appropriate buttons as well as preventing accidental activation that could occur with flush or raised buttons. In addition, the Optima is also equipped with dual ports which accommodate the attachment of external switches for activation of the left and right click functions. These can be used to offer users with limited motor control alternative methods of clicking.

Note: The latest release of iOS13 for Apple portable devices includes support for USB Pointing Devices. This means that virtually all of the Pretorian Mouse Replacement solutions can now be used with iPads and iPhones that have iOS13 or newer. Connection to the portable device requires a "camera adapter cable". The Ergo M575 Wireless Trackball from Logitech replaces the earlier M570 Wireless Trackball, offering improved connectivity options. Like its predecessor, the M575 takes most of the repetitive movements and strain which the entire hand usually must perform and allocates all the workload to the thumb. Accurate optical tracking is provided by a laser sensor that offers 400-2000 DPI resolutions. With a contoured body that provides a relaxing support for the hand, the Ergo M575 is equipped with a scroll wheel and right and left click buttons, all positioned as with a traditional mouse. In addition there are Back and Forward Buttons for convenience when browsing through multiple pages. The trackball body is shaped to let the hand rest in a natural relaxed position. As with the earlier M570 model, the M575 is best suited to those with small- or average-sized hands.

Connection can be made via either Bluetooth or the storable USB mini receiver, with a single AA battery providing up to 2 years of service. A battery life indicator will advise when the battery needs replacing. Software available from Logitech offers customization of trackball functions and performance.

Note: As the Ergo M575 places the workload fully upon the thumb, (which on most other trackballs is generally shared amongst several fingers), anyone who has existing thumb issues would be well-advised to consider alternative solutions.

The OptimaX from Pretorian is the first wireless trackball designed specifically for users with motor skill difficulties.

Built on the established platform of its wired counterpart, the OptimaX employs an optical sensor which eliminates mechanical parts which can fail from wear while still offering precise tracking and cursor control. Trackball movement is silky smooth and the stable low profile footprint makes the OptimaX suitable for a wide spectrum of computer users. The extended operating range in excess of 10 metres makes it ideal for use in multi-user settings and classrooms as it can be employed as a desktop or handheld trackball.

Colour-coded and recessed control buttons for Left Click, Right Click, and Drag-Lock are positioned above the trackball. The recessed location assists users in guiding their fingers to the appropriate buttons as well as preventing accidental activation that could occur with flush or raised buttons. In addition, the OptimaX is also equipped with dual ports which accommodate the attachment of external switches for activation of the left and right click functions. These can be used to offer users with limited motor control alternative methods of clicking.

Robustly manufactured, the OptimaX is virtually maintenance free (with the exception of battery replacement) and will give years of untroubled service.

The Orbit Wireless Mobile Trackball from Kensington is a compact ambidextrous trackball mouse that provides the convenience of wireless in a small footprint. The compact size and wireless convenience make it a suitable solution for short-term mobile usage or for users with small hands who may find other trackball options to be a bit large.

The Orbit Wireless Mobile Trackball is plug and play (no driver required). Buttons situated on the outer sides of the trackball housing provide access to Left and Right Clicks. Scrolling is available via dual Touch Scroll Zones that are positioned to the left and right of the compact 32 mm trackball. Functions can also be customized by installing and running the TrackballWorks software from Kensington. TrackballWorks offers button customization as well as cursor and scrolling speed adjustment options.

In order to extend battery life the wireless range is limited to 10 feet. Users are notified of necessary battery replacement by a low battery indicator light. A power switch further reduces unnecessary battery consumption. In step with the mobile focus of this product, the micro receiver can be conveniently housed in the body of the mouse during travel or storage.

The n-ABLER Trackball from Pretorian is specifically designed to address the needs of computer users with limited hand control, motor skill difficulties, poor hand-eye coordination, and lack of manual dexterity. This functionality is packaged in a heavy duty housing designed to survive heavy use. High contrast coloured buttons and trackball assist users in determining position and function of the controls.

The n-ABLER Trackball provides cursor control as well as single-click controls for left click, right click, double click, and drag lock functions. In addition the n-Abler Trackball also offers a "Locking Axis" function which locks the cursor to either vertical or horizontal movement, addressing the difficulty of cursor control for users who experience tremors or may struggle with fine motor control.

Cursor control on the n-ABLER Trackball is provided by a large 63 mm, free-running ball which responds to minimal effort. To avoid accidental movement the trackball projects only slightly above the housing, with the activation buttons fully recessed to avoid accidental activation as well as to aid users in button targeting. Dual mini-phono jacks also permit the attachment of a variety of external switches to provide users with easier access to the Left and Right click functions. Users who find the traditional orientation unsuitable have the option of 'teaching' the trackball to orient itself at 90° increments, freeing the user to change the housing orientation for optimum usage and comfort. The trackball also offers an optional buzzer setting which provides notification as specific functions are activated or deactivated.

The design of the n-ABLER Trackball offers fingertip precision control and requires only minimal hand movement. This can reduce wrist and elbow fatigue, as it requires noticeably less effort. The symmetrical design enables users to work with either hand without having to angle the wrist, and the unit can also be configured for 'left-handed' operation.

The Slimblade Wired Media Control Trackball from Kensington is designed to provide specialized functionality to those working with audio, video, or image editing. Three modes of operation can be accessed. The Slimblade defaults to View mode which offers traditional cursor control and scrolling function; however, Media and View modes can be easily accessed with a single click. The Media mode provides users with quick access to play/pause, stop, and track forward/backward functions while the View mode offers zoom and pan options. A heads-up display on the monitor advises users as to which application is active and what function is being performed.

The Slimblade departs from other Kensington trackball designs by employing a 55 mm trackball which is noticeably heavier for its dimensions than other models. In order to accommodate the need to grip and rotate the ball to accomplish common tasks such as vertical scrolling, 80% of the trackball projects above the housing height, resting freely on top of the trackball base.

Note: While providing users with a stylish look and generous functionality, the Slimblade Media Control Trackball does require repetitive pinching and twisting actions to perform common tasks. As well, the increased elevation of the trackball above the housing can lead to significantly greater wrist extension than other trackball designs. These types of actions and hand placement are often considered potential contributors to the development of complaints such as carpal tunnel or other RSI. Users may wish to consider the intended usage and the degree to which these actions may be required along with any realized benefits when selecting a suitable device.

The PC-Trac from Clearly Superior Technologies is a robustly built trackball line offering options and features not readily available in other trackballs. The low profile of the PC-Trac acts as a natural hand rest mirroring the natural contour of your hand and is designed to easily accommodate both right and left-hand use, as well as different size hands.

Unlike most trackballs on the market, the high density phenolic trackball in the PC-Trac has significant inertia. This provides far more tactile feedback than that normally offered trackballs, while still offering smooth response to even a light touch. The PC-Trac also offers "dynamic acceleration" which increases distance covered proportional to the speed of rotation. This feature ensures fine control as well as offering accurate rapid movement when required. (See the Features section on the Detailed Specifications Page for a deeper explanation of this feature.)

PC-Trac basic models offer both "middle click" and "drag lock" functions (see the Features for more details.) On the Pro models this button only supports "middle click" but there is downloadable software available which enables individuals to customize their trackball features. There is also a 5-button model which offers 2 input jacks for the connection of optional external switches.

The PC-Trac is now available from PI Engineering as the X-Keys O-Trac

The SimplyWorks Wireless Trackball from Pretorian combines the established technology and design of the Optima Trackball with the expanded capabilities provided by the SimplyWorks Wireless connection. The SimplyWorks Trackball employs optical sensor technology that eliminates mechanical parts which can fail from wear while still offering precise tracking and cursor control. Trackball movement is silky smooth and the stable low profile footprint makes the SimplyWorks Wireless Trackball suitable for a wide spectrum of computer users. The extended operating range (in excess of 10 metres) makes it ideal for use in multi-user settings and classrooms as it can be employed as a desktop or handheld trackball.

The SimplyWorks Wireless functionality means that this trackball can be combined with any combination of up to 5 other SimplyWorks equipped devices to communicate with a single computer through a SimplyWorks Wireless RECEIVE. This makes it an ideal solution for co-operative learning and interactive multi-user activities.

Colour-coded and recessed control buttons for Left Click, Right Click, and Drag-Lock are positioned above the trackball. The recessed location assists users in guiding their fingers to the appropriate buttons as well as preventing accidental activation that could occur with flush or raised buttons. In addition, the SimplyWorks Wireless Trackball is also equipped with dual ports which accommodate the attachment of external switches for activation of the left and right click functions. These can be used to offer users with limited motor control alternative methods of clicking.

Robustly manufactured, the SimplyWorks Wireless Trackball is virtually maintenance free (with the exception of battery replacement) and will give years of untroubled service.

* SimplyWorks is the world's first fully integrated wireless system designed specifically for users with motor skill difficulties.

Because the mousing device will be powered by the phone or tablet it is preferable to use one with pass-through charging so the portable device can charge while the mousing device is attached and in use.
In the case of the SimplyWorks solutions, the Receive:2 is still required to support the pointing device connection. The Receive:2 plugs into the camera adapter cable and provides the wireless connection to the pointing device.

The X-Keys O-Trac from PI Engineering is a robustly built trackball with a long history of durability, reliability and performance, carrying on the legacy of the PC-Trac Trackballs formerly manufactured by Clearly Superior Technologies.

The X-Keys O-Trac Trackball offers a gently-angled profile that serves as a natural hand rest. The gradual curve of the body mirrors the natural contour of the hand and is designed to easily accommodate both right- and left-handed use, as well as multiple hand sizes.

Unlike most trackballs on the market, the high density phenolic trackball in the O-Trac has significant inertia. This provides far more tactile feedback than that normally offered by mass market trackballs, while still offering smooth response to even a light touch. The PC-Trac also offers "dynamic acceleration" which increases distance covered proportional to the speed of rotation. This feature ensures fine control as well as offering accurate rapid movement when required. (See the Features section on the Detailed Specifications Page for a deeper explanation of this feature.)

The O-Trac Trackball offers both "middle click" and "drag lock" functions (see the Features for more details

X-keys Trackballs work right out of the box, no software is required. If you wish to assign different functions to the buttons the manufacturer recommends using X-Mouse Button Control.

The Pro Fit Ergo Vertical Wired Trackball from Kensington offers thumb-operated cursor control that eliminates the traditional arm and hand movement required with a traditional mouse. It also moves the hand and forearm away from a prone position by angling the hand outward at 60°. The 34 mm trackball offers silky-smooth movement with adjustable optical tracking from 400-800 DPI. The contoured body provides a support for the hand, naturally positioning the fingers over the right and left buttons. Side scrolling function is provided by a tilting scroll wheel that features crisp detents, conveniently positioned between these buttons to complete the traditional mouse control layout. The index finger has easy access to convenient Back and Forward Buttons for browsing through multiple pages of a document or web page. The Pro Fit Ergo Vertical Wired Trackball has a hardwired connection that ensures reliable signal for both clicking and cursor control.

As the Pro Fit Ergo Vertical Wired Trackball places the workload fully upon the thumb, (which on most other trackballs is generally shared by several fingers), anyone who has existing thumb issues would be well-advised to consider alternative solutions.

For those who prefer the freedom of a wireless device this trackball is also available as the Pro Fit Ergo Vertical Wireless Trackball.
