Matias
Half-Keyboard - an ultra-compact keyboard with full size
keys
ErgoCanada.com is pleased
to add Matias Corporation and their one handed keyboard
solutions to our product lineup. The Matias Half Keyboard
uses full size, full travel high quality mechanical
keyswitches and provides complete functionality through
an efficient yet simple chording system which uses only
22 keys. The dimensions of this design are 5.75" x
3.15" x 0.71" - about 1/4 the size of most compact
keyboards.
This innovative design offers benefits for many different
applications:
- All Users - With only 6" x 3" of desktop
space needed for your keyboard input solution, there is
more room for other input devices or workspace. In addition,
it is much easier to place all your input devices within
your comfort zone with this space-saving keyboard.
- One Handed Keyboard Input - Productively! --
For people with only one functional hand who have reduced
comfort zones, this keyboard is a life saver! Now the
reach for the pointing device is greatly reduced, and
typing speeds on this keyboard can be up to 88% as fast
as typing with both hands. Touch typists benefit from
their experience greatly reducing the learning curve -
you are just using one hand to type instead of two.
- Number Crunchers (Spreadsheet Applications) -
Embedded numeric keypad allows for fast switching between
scrolling and numbers, leaving your other hand free to
select or manipulate cells with the mouse.
- Power Users (Photoshop, CAD, Desktop Publishing)
- Now you can keep one hand on the mouse or other input
device and use your other hand on the Half Keyboard
to change tools and issue commands.
- Gaming Applications - Eyes-free control of the
entire keyboard with one hand frees your other hand for
joysticks or mice.
This device comes in PS/2, USB for PC/Tablet PC, USB for
Mac. Inquire about PDA compatability.
Matias
also offers a Half-QWERTY Keyboard which is ideal
for one-handed users and individuals with Hemiplegia, Carpal
Tunnel Syndrome and other hand-related injuries. This is
a standard desktop keyboard that allows those with limited
or no use of one hand to continue typing with the other
hand in an easy and natural manner. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
and other typing-related injuries don't always occur in
both hands. In cases where only one hand is affected, you
can type with the other hand, while the injured one heals.
Half-QWERTY's innovative 'skill transfer' design makes the
transition fast and easy. And it is ideal for multi-user
workstations where a standard keyboard is also needed.

A new accessory for the RollerMouse - The RollerWave
The
RollerWave is designed to replace the two removable foam
pads that come standard with the RollerMouse. The replacement
unit plugs into the slots on the RollerMouse's frame, providing
a larger wrist-resting surface. Like the foam pads it replaces,
the RollerWave is designed in a contoured shape to maximize
comfort, has an improved foam 'gel', and is fully cleanable
with mild soap and water.
- Available in both Beige (RM-WAVE-01) or Black (RM-WAVE-02)
- Weight: 1 lb
- Dimensions: 5" x 19.875" (adds 2 " to
the depth of the RollerMouse)
For more information, see the Mouse - Alternative or Rests
category in our Online
Catalog.
A new orthogonal keyboard layout - the PLUM Keyboard
Say
hello to the easiest keyboard ever -- PLUM -- so named from
the first four letters on the top row. The PLUM keyboard
is arranged into easy words and sequences for fast recall.
The PLUM keyboard is ideal for first time casual computer
users. The letters are arranged into easy words and sequences
for fast recall. The most frequently used letters are on
the home row (READ ON THIS). This means that 74% of letter
frequency is on the home row (compared to QWERTY's 30%).
PLUM and WXYZ are also memorable. Now you can easily remember
where the keys are without looking under your fingers which
dramatically saves learning time. Therefore, you can master
the PLUM keyboard faster and easier.
The PLUM keyboard is gentle on the fingers because the
most frequently used letters are on the home row. This reduces
finger movement and thereby enhances typing fluidity and
increases speed. The orthogonal grid pattern on the PLUM
keyboard keeps your fingers from getting tripped up. It
enables the fingers to move with less stress and chance
of injury because the fingers are moving top to bottom on
the PLUM keyboard and not sideways as in QWERTY. On the
PLUM keyboard the index fingers command only four letters
and all other fingers command three, whereas in QWERTY,
the index fingers command six letters while the other fingers
command three, some two, and one finger, just one letter.
The PLUM keyboard is USB device so there are no drivers
required - just plug it in and you are ready to go!

Layout category in our Online

Adaptables Mouse Bridges - available in 4 different
designs to address every application!
ErgoCanada.com is pleased
to add the complete line of mouse bridge products from Adaptables,
and announce that we are now the Canadian distributor for
Adaptables.
The purpose of a mouse bridge is quite simple - to provide
a mousing surface over the numeric keypad of a keyboard
in circumstances where a compact keyboard with an embedded
numeric keypad is not an option. A variety of different
models are available, which primarily vary in the manner
which the base of the bridge is supported. All come with
an optional mouse pad.
By using the space above the numeric keypad (which is often
seldom used other than by number crunchers), the reach for
the mouse (or other pointing device) is reduced by 4-5",
helping to prevent abduction at the shoulder or elbow, and
keep you within your 'comfort zone'.

|
This
is an innovative product which offers several desktop
solutions in one compact package.
If both sections are folded down (over the keyboard)
you have an 18" x 9" writing surface. If
you fold up the larger section, you have access to
your keyboard with a mouse bridge over your numeric
keypad. If you do need occasional access to the numeric
keypad, you can flip up both sections. A truly innovative
product solution.

True
Arm is an arm support designed to benefit all computer users
including the Physically Challenged computer users on wheel
chairs. This uniquely designed ergonomic arm support is
the only one of its kind in the market that can help alleviate
Upper Body Stress Syndrome associated with repetitive motion.
Upper Body Stress Syndrome can lead to Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
(CTS) and other Repetitive Stress Injuries (RSI).
This design provides:
- Total shoulder and arm support.
- Creates a relaxing and proper sitting posture.
- Exact alignment of hand and forearm.
- Safe sitting distance from the monitor.
- 3.5" x 12" microwavable bean bag arm rest
for greater comfort.

easy to set up
- Easy vertical height adjustment and convenient horizontal
motion
- 26 square inch mousing surface available in black or
artic blue
The True Arm allows you to sit back and bring the mouse
to you, thereby alleviating the strain on the back and spine.
With your wrist properly aligned and in a neutral position,
there are less pressure points, muscle tension or restricted
blood circulation, which are the main causes of CTS. This
innovative product can help to alleviate Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
(CTS) and Repetitive Stress Injuries (RSI) associated with
the use of the computer mouse.

Looking for Compact (Canadian) French Language Keyboards?
Look no further!
We
offer our entry level mini keyboard with a French Canadian
layout in both White and Black colors (PS/2 interface).
These keyboards have full size letter and number keys, and
narrower 'extra' keys (like Pg Up, Pg Dn, Windows App keys,
etc.) but offer full 104 key functionality with 88 actual
discrete keys. There is a full embedded numeric keypad,
and the standard French Canadian Legends are printed on
the keycaps.
Labels which affix to keycaps tend to slide off and leave
a gummy substance on the keys. Keyboards with printed keycaps
are preferable - and we are pleased to be able to offer
these keyboards to our customers.
For more information, see the Keyboards - Compact category
in our Online
Catalog.
Contour Design's New 'Classic' Perfit Mouse Optical -
an upgrade for a Classic design!
The
'Classic' Perfit Mouse is the best ergonomic design
available for the traditional style of mouse (i.e. not vertical,
or a different type of interface like touchpads or trackballs).
It comes in 4 different Right handed models (Small, Medium,
Large and Extra-Large) and 3 different Left handed models
(Small, Medium and Large). Having different sizes for different
sizes of hands optimizes the comfort and responsiveness
of the mouse for the user, and the sculpted design and thumb
support greatly reduce the gripping or 'pinch' force required
to maintain precise control of your mousing actions.
NEW!
Now available in an optical version, the 'Classic'
Perfit Mouse Optical (pictured above, left) adds
the latest technology to the unique design of the original
Perfit Mouse. A high precision optical sensor provides excellent
cursor control. Below the thumb support, the innovative
two-position side rocker switch gives quick and effortless
access to two additional programmable buttons. For people
who want a vertical scroll, the standard Perfit Mouse
Optical (pictured at right) includes a vertical
scroll wheel above the thumb support. The key advantage
of placing a scroll wheel above the thumb support is to
reduce the strain on the index finger, which is already
heavily used for the primary mouse click.

Cirque SmoothCat Keyboard and Cirque Wave II keyboard
Available - but only for a Limited Time
ErgoCanada.com
is excited to announce that we have sourced out a limited
number of Cirque SmoothCat keyboards and Cirque Wave II
keyboards. These are the original keyboards manufactured
by Cirque and much sought after by many devoted users. Once
these keyboards are sold, there will not be any further
units available, and we have only a couple units remaining.
This keyboard has a Cirque Easy Cat Touchpad embedded in
the sculpted wrist rest (which with driver will support
vertical scrolling) which is located under the cursor control
keys. The only other keyboard ever manufactured using the
fixed split layout with a touchpad is the Adesso product
- and that product has the touchpad located under the space
bars. For those who prefer the touchpad in the original
location, this is their last chance to buy this product.
We have a number of UK layout keyboards. These keyboards
are identical in terms of functionality and usage - the
only distinction is that the keycaps are slightly different
(a pound symbol instead of a dollar symbol, etc.). If you
are interested in one of these, we are selling them at a
discount of $15 i.e. for $135 instead of the regular price
of $150.
