ErgoRest Forearm Supports have set the industry standard for articulating forearm supports for decades. They provide effortless flowing movement in a horizontal two-dimensional plane that allows the user to move between the keyboard and the mouse without any interruption in support. This model includes two extension poles measuring 10 cm and 20 cm high that can be used to adjust the height of the arm support up to 30 cm above the worksurface or mounting point. The ErgoRest mount permits infinite adjustment within this 30 cm range.
The ErgoRest is suitable for both office and industrial applications. The arm support can be adjusted from level with the worksurface to 7.5 cm above the worksurface. A Mousing Surface is available as an optional accessory. The mousing surface can swivel to extend towards the user, or back over the worksurface. The standard clamp is compatible with desks up to 4.5 cm thick; a taller clamp is available to attach the ErgoRest to desks up to 5.6 cm thick.
Reduces Strain on the Shoulders and Neck - Without appropriate arm support the weight of the arms and hands must be borne by the muscles of the shoulders and neck. This is especially important when the hands or arms must be maintained in an elevated position for extended periods. This constant load on the smaller muscles of the upper body can lead to strain and injury. With the included Extension Poles this model of the ErgoRest can provide the support necessary at a height appropriate to the task. The ErgoRest now provides the support rather than the arms, leaving the muscles of the arm able to relax and rest.
Can Provide Superior Control - Many situations where the hands need to be elevated also require fine control (e.g. microscope use). If the muscles of the arms are tensed they are severely limited in their ability to provide the necessary level of fine movement. By providing support which permits the muscles to relax the ErgoRest with Extension Poles can actually provide relief while at the same time offering a significant improvement in fine movement.
Can Improve Blood Flow and Reduce Fatigue - By relieving the strain on the muscles of the neck and shoulders and reducing the muscle tension, the ErgoRest Forearm Support can contribute to improved circulation and more effective delivery of oxygen to the tissues of the arms and hands. The result is a reduced risk of fatigue in the upper extremities.
Reduces Wrist Extension - A correctly adjusted ErgoRest Forearm Support can significantly reduce the risk of developing pain in the wrist and forearms. When the weight of the hand and forearm is borne by the ErgoRest, wrist extension is less likely to occur because the user is less likely to drop the palm to the worksurface for support while mousing or keyboarding. Learn More About Wrist Extension
Reduces Pressure on the Wrists - Traditional arm or palm supports tend to concentrate pressure onto a very small surface area. When these products are used correctly—with the heel of the hand bearing the pressure—this is not a concern. However, many users incorrectly place the support underneath the wrist instead, where sensitive tissues have very little protection. Exerting pressure against this vulnerable area can reduce circulation, and can contribute to numbness and pain. The ErgoRest Forearm Support distributes the weight of the hand and forearm over the broader surface area on the forearm, eliminating this risk to the soft tissues of the wrist.
Eliminates Pinch Points - The elevated and padded arm support ensures that the underside of the forearm makes no contact with potential pinch points at the edge of the table top.
Reduces Strain in the Upper Body - By eliminating the need for palm supports when using a keyboard, mouse, or performing fine work the ErgoRest Forearm Support allows these devices to be moved closer to the user, reducing forward reach.
Improves Posture - Without sufficient support for the weight of the arms and hands, the shoulders can sometimes roll forward, rounding the back and causing the head to fall forward. This poor posture strains muscles from the lower back to the neck. The ErgoRest Forearm Support helps to improve posture and restore the orthopedically stable "S" curve to the spine.
Effortless, Gliding Motion: The design of the ErgoRest Forearm Support presents negligible resistance to the movement of the arm.
Lightweight Construction: The support frame is made of aluminum alloy and polyamide.
Height Adjustable: A height adjustment screw enables users to fine-tune the height of the basic Forearm Support from level with the worksurface to 2.95" (7.5 cm) above the worksurface. The 10 and 20 cm poles included with this model of the ErgoRest can be combined to offer an infinite range of heights up to 30 cm over the mounting surface. The fine-tuning range remains available when using either of the extension options.
Optional Mousing Surface with Two Mounting Options: If employing the optional Mousing Surface it can be mounted either inline with the keyboard, or off-center to allow the Mousing Surface to be swiveled closer to the user. The off-centre mount also allows users to bring the arm pad closer to the keyboard. This configuration may facilitate better access to both the keyboard and the mouse. (Note that with both options, the Mousing Surface will be 1.5" above the worksurface.) Note: The Mousing Surface does not elevate with the Extension Pole option. Only the ErgoRest Forearm Support can be elevated with the Extension Poles.
