The special-purpose Washable Keyboard with 2-in-1 10-key Touchpad from Solidtek Solidtek features a responsive touchpad mousing surface which converts to a fully functioning 10-key numeric keypad with a simple keystroke. This means that all standard keyboard functions are packed into a 15" wide keyboard, with no sacrifice in key size or spacing. This makes this keyboard ideal for the space constraints of dental operatories, medical offices, or any area where space is restricted. The softly rounded contours of the IP68 rated fully-sealed silicone surface lend themselves to complete disinfection as the keyboard is both water and dust-proof, features which also make it suitable for locations where moisture and dust will quickly render standard keyboards inoperable.

The keyswitches feel soft but still offer reasonably tactile response, providing notification when a key has been activated. Unlike some similar keyboards, the keys have minimal rock and the vertical movement is clean. By incorporating the navigation cluster into the compact layout and integrating the multi-function touch surface into the space traditionally occupied by a dedicated numeric keypad, the extended reach on the right is reduced to a minimum. The problem of mice failing to function due to moisture and dust on sensor surfaces is eliminated since the touchpad surface is unaffected by these environmental issues. High contrast white-on-black legends are easily readable. A backlit version of this keyboard is also available for environments with low levels of lighting.

A final and unusual feature—a convenient On/Off switch—fully disables input from both the keyboard and the incorporated dual-purpose touchpad mousing surface/numeric keypad.
