Super Mini Wireless Trackball Keyboard

The Super Mini Wireless Trackball Keyboard from Solidtek features keycaps with a horizontal spacing of just 15 mm, approximately 78% of the normal. The keycaps are also shallower in height, resulting in the rows being spaced just 14 mm apart, approximately 73% of normal. This reduced spacing makes the keyboard not only narrower but also shallower (front to back). The fully-functioning membrane keys have a shorter-than-average travel and include a scissors mechanism that enhances the smoothness and stability of keyswitches. Despite including the smallest "physically functioning" keyboard available, it also includes both an embedded numeric keypad to offer full 101 key functionality. The Shift, Enter, Space Bar, Caps Lock, Tab, and all bottom and top row keys are all significantly smaller than on a standard keyboard.

The reduced key spacing and small size of the key caps make the Super Mini Wireless Trackball Keyboard primarily suitable for everyday two-handed use by children or those with smaller-than-average hands. For one-handed typing by those with average to smaller hands the compact width can reduce the movement necessary to access all of the keys and the convenience of an integrated mousing device will provide fully computer access in a compact 11.5" width. However those with larger finger tips will still have difficulty activating just a single key and would be better served by a compact keyboard with full-size keycaps and standard key spacing.

Although not ideal for daily use by many individuals the portability of this keyboard does make it suitable for short term use with portable devices. It can be powered the included USB cable, alkaline batteries, or rechargeable batteries.

NOTE: If the mini-USB cable is being used to power the keyboard, DO NOT USE the alkaline batteries at the same time, as the keyboard will ATTEMPT TO CHARGE THE BATTERIES. Use rechargeable batteries instead or uninstall the alkaline batteries during corded use.

• Ultra-Compact Dimensions: The reduced spacing and keycap size on the Super Mini Wireless Trackball Keyboard and the inclusion of an embedded numeric keypad let all the functions of a full-size keyboard and cursor control device (i.e. mouse) be packed into a width of just 11.5".
• Concave Keycaps: The keycaps have a slightly concave surface that improves tactility by maximizing finger pad contact on the keycaps and guiding the fingers to the key centers.
• Integrated Mousing Device: Cursor control is provided by the mini-trackball in the upper right corner of the keyboard. Left and Right buttons are in the upper left corner.
• Embedded Numeric Keypad: The Super Mini Wireless Trackball Keyboard eliminates an integrated numeric keypad but retains the functions on an embedded numeric keypad, which is simply certain letter keys on the right hand side doubling as number keys when accessed.
  
  The numeric keypad is legended on the top right-hand corner of the keycap in a dark blue color. The Navigation functions are not legended on the embedded numeric keypad but may be accessed by holding down the Fn (Function) key while the Num Lock is turned off. Navigation keys are also located on the bottom right-hand side of the keyboard. The green legends can be activated by holding down the Fn (Function) key while pressing the navigation keys.
  Activation: Press and release the NumLock key once (i.e. a toggle). The green light at the top right hand corner of the keyboard labeled Num Lock will turn on.
  Deactivation: Press and release the NumLock key once (i.e. a toggle). The green light at the top right hand corner of the keyboard labeled Num Lock will turn off.
  Access With NumLock On: The keypad will generate numbers if the NumLock is active. If you press and hold the Fn (Function) key is depressed at the same time as NumLock is active, the numeric keypad will revert to the normal keyboard (i.e. letters).
  Access With NumLock Off: Most computers will boot up with NumLock off, and in this case, the numeric keypad will perform its normal keyboarding functions. The navigation keys can be accessed at any time by holding down the Fn (Function) key and pressing the appropriate key on the embedded numeric keypad.

• If you have larger hands you may wish to consider a different keyboard as the reduced spacing and height of the keys may make targeting of these keys difficult. There are numerous keyboards that are still considered "compact" but that retain full-size keys throughout.
• Familiarize yourself with the embedded numeric keypad. If your work requires occasional periods of more intense numeric entry using the numeric keypad may prove to be convenient. If the embedded numeric keypad does not meet your requirements consider adding one of the external numeric keypad options available as accessories.
