Product Summary |
---|
Simplistic but functional design and construction make the Ergo Plus Foot Rest both durable and practical. The platform tilts ±20° and freely adjusts to match the angle of the feet due to the non-locking adjustment mechanism. This encourages foot and leg movement throughout the day. Raised horizontal ridges on the platform surface help the feet stay secure while adjusting the platform angle. Rubber-padded feet keep the foot rest firmly in place throughout the day. It should be noted that unlike other non-locking foot rests that simply "pivot" from a central point, the platform on the Ergo Plus Foot Rest introduces additional leg activity by moving in an arc as the angle is adjusted, moving further away for negative angles and closer for positive angles.
Note: The Ergo Plus Foot Rest is considered a "non-locking" foot rest as the angle of the platform adjusts freely throughout the available range. |
Ergonomic Benefits |
---|
Reduces Strain on Lower Thighs - Blood circulation around the lower thighs can be impeded when a person is sitting on a seatpan without sufficient support for the lower legs and feet. The weight of the lower legs and feet will create a pinch point towards the front of the seatpan, and this will reduce blood flow in the lower thighs, causing overall pain and fatigue in the lower thighs and legs. This often happens because the chair is too high. Foot rests like the Ergo Plus Foot Rest help reduce this strain by supporting the feet on a raised platform, thereby allowing blood to circulate better throughout the legs and feet.
Reduces Strain on the Foot and Ankle - Many office workers sit with one foot forward of the other, putting the foot into a position called plantar flexion. Over time, sustained plantar flexion can permit the calf muscles and tendons to become tight and stiff which, in turn, can lead to a range of uncomfortable symptoms in the feet. The non-locking platform on the Ergo Plus Foot Rest permits individuals to easily flex the ankle joint back and forth by arcing the platform over the base. This healthy movement at the joint can reduce strain caused by sustained plantar flexion, or sustained dorsiflexion. The frequent small movements also promote better circulation, helping to reduce the risk of blood clots and varicose veins.
Improves Upper Body Posture - The Ergo Plus Foot Rest provides a stable and supportive surface that encourages correct utilization of chair back support rather than "perching" on the front edge of a seat. This improved posture can reduce the risk of upper back, shoulder and neck pain. The movement range of the Ergo Plus Foot Rest ensures that even those of shorter stature can reap these benefits.
Encourages Movement - Because the Ergo Plus Foot Rest moves freely, it encourages regular movement throughout the day. Movement such as this encourages flexing of the calf muscles which in turn helps promote circulation in the lower legs. It can also aid in avoiding any single static position that might have negative effects.

Usage Tips |
---|
- Make an effort to determine the correct height for the seatpan on your chair. Ensure that your feet are supported at a height suited to your position in the chair when you are sitting upright. You should be able to rest your feet on the footrest without tilting the chair forward or having to stretch for the footrest. Alternatively, it should not be too high as this can lift the thighs off the seatpan of the chair, a position that can increase the strain on the lower spine.
- Once your foot rest is correctly positioned make a point of sitting back in your chair and letting the backrest provide your back with the appropriate support. Not only is this good for the health of your back - it will also be more restful and has the potential to significantly reduce the risk of developing lower back pain due to poor posture. It may well also result in a more relaxed back, neck and shoulders with an accompanying reduction in end-of-day fatigue.
- After your chair and foot rest are correctly positioned ensure that appropriate adjustments are made to your monitor height. If you move from a "perching" posture to sitting back in your chair with correct upright posture you will most likely need to elevate your monitor since your head will be elevated and your line of sight will naturally follow suit.
- Take advantage of the movement available on the Ergo Plus Foot Rest. Change your feet position on a regular basis by moving them and changing the foot rest angle. This engages the calf muscles and encourages circulation - beneficial to the entire body. It will also ensure that your body moves through a wider range of positioning and should help avoid tightness from a single sustained position.
