The Ergo Comfort Footrest from Aidata is a sturdy footrest with a minimum 2" front elevation and two "fixed angle" options. The rigid high-impact plastic platform features a pattern of raised traction lines to help prevent the feet from slipping, and measures approximately 17.7" wide by 12.8" deep. In basic configuration the foot platform is angled at 9°. With the leg extensions installed a 17° angle can be achieved. The height at the back of the foot rest varies with the angle selected, 3.5" high for the basic 9° configuration and 5.5" high in the 17° mode. The front edge of the platform is 2" above the floor at both settings. Non-slip rubber pads keep the foot rest securely in place on both carpeted and hard floors and convenient clips on the underside of the platform provide storage for the leg extensions when the footrest is in the basic 9° configuration.
Note: The Ergo Comfort Footrest is considered a "locking" footrest as the foot platform remains fixed at the chosen angle. |
Ergonomic Benefits |
---|
Reduces Risk of Plantar flexion - A common problem with chairs whose seats are positioned too high is that the feet do not touch the floor or, if they do touch, force the feet into plantar flexion (i.e. toes extended down and away from the shin). A foot rest like the Ergo Comfort Footrest can reduce the potential for plantar flexion posture by angling the surface on which the feet rest in the direction of the legs (optimally at slightly more than 90°).
Improves Upper Body Posture - The Ergo Comfort Footrest is a good solution for individuals who require nominal elevation for their feet. The lowest part of the footrest sits 2" above the floor and angles upwards to either 3.5" or 5" depending on the angle the footrest is configured for. The improved posture can reduce the risk of upper back, shoulder and neck pain.
Can Improve Circulation - Circulation around the lower thighs can be impeded when a person is sitting on a chair without sufficient support for the lower legs and feet. In this situation the weight of the lower limbs can create a pinch point towards the front of the seatpan, potentially reducing circulation to the lower thighs, which in turn can lead to pain and fatigue in the lower extremities. This often happens because the chair is too high. The Cozy Foot Rest can help reduce this strain by supporting the feet on a raised platform, thereby allowing unrestricted circulation throughout the legs and feet.

Usage Tips |
---|
- Position your chair to the appropriate height prior to adjusting your foot rest. This will ensure that you are able to properly access your worksurface. Once your seating height is selected, then adjust the foot rest to a height which positions your knees slightly below your hips. The height should be sufficient to ensure that there are no pressure points against the back of the thighs at the edge of your seat.
- Once your foot rest is correctly positioned make a point of sitting back in your chair and letting the backrest provide your back with the appropriate support. Not only is this good for the health of your back - it will also be more restful and has the potential to significantly reduce the risk of developing lower back pain due to poor posture. It may well also result in a more relaxed back, neck and shoulders with an accompanying reduction in end-of-day fatigue.
- After your chair and foot rest are correctly positioned ensure that appropriate adjustments are made to your monitor height. If you move from a "perching" posture to sitting back in your chair with correct upright posture you will most likely need to elevate your monitor since your head will be elevated and your line of sight will naturally follow suit.
- Configure the Ergo Comfort Footrest for the angle that achieves the most neutral alignment of the ankles. You want the ankle-to-shin alignment to be close to or just past a 90° angle. The angle necessary will depend on where you place the footrest in relation to your chair.
