Ergonomics Behind the Mouse

Evoluent VerticalMouse

The design of the Evoluent improves comfort and control when mousing, with a patented shape that supports your hand in a relaxed handshake position with a notch to rest your thumb in that eliminates forearm twisting and minimizes effort required to use the mouse. The mouse remains stable when pressing buttons because the thumb naturally opposes the finger movements.

Ordinary Horizontal Mice

The classic horizontal design twists the arm. A regular mouse requires your forearm to twist away from its natural position, which can reduce blood flow, put muscles in awkward positions and increase the rate of fatigue and for many, discomfort and pain while mousing.

Learning Curve?

The grip is the same as an ordinary mouse, just turned sideways, and the buttons are operated by the same fingers. There is virtually no retraining necessary.

The mouse does not move sideways when clicking with normal force. Pointer control is as accurate as any other high-quality mouse.

Features

  • Contoured Design and Texture - The contoured black portion where you hold the mouse has a polyurethane coating on a black body allowing you to have complete control of the mouse just by resting your hand on it - practically eliminating the need to grip the mouse.
  • Super Light Tactile Buttons - The buttons on the Evoluent take about half the force of traditional mice to click, meaning your fingers won't get tired with all the clicking required in today's computer applications. The button force is light for easy clicking, but still firm enough to avoid accidental actuation.
  • Optical Vertical Scroll - The vertical scroller is optical, providing improved reliability and quiet, smooth operation
  • Speed Toggle (XP/Vista only) - Cycle among up to 3 pointer speed settings with a keyboard shortcut or mouse button. For example, a high speed for ordinary tasks, and a slow speed for graphics work.
  • Auto Click - Automatically perform a single or double click by pausing the pointer. Adjustable time delay for activation.
  • Click Lock (or Drag Lock) - Press and hold a button momentarily to simulate continued pressing without holding down the button. Adjustable time delay for activation.
  • Break Reminder - Visual and/or audio alerts to remind you to take a break.
  • VM2 Series (1200 DPI) or VM3 Series (2600 DPI) Optical Resolution - With an optical sensor at this resolution, the amount of movement required for cursor control is reduced without any loss in precision or accuracy - making it perfect for AutoCAD or photo editing as well as web surfing or playing your favourite game.
  • Button Programming - 4 of the 5 buttons are programmable to over 59 different functions, allowing you to customize and optimize your mouse, speeding up common tasks with a single click. Some examples of functions include:
    • Auto click - automatically perform a single or double click by pausing the pointer. Adjustable time delay for activation.
    • Click lock - press and hold a button momentarily to simulate continued pressing without holding down the button. Adjustable time delay for activation.
    • Break Reminder - visual and/or audio alerts to remind you to take a break.
    • Double Click
    • Right Click
    • Vertical scroll - press a button and drag the mouse to scroll with greater precision and control than the scroll wheel.
    • Forward (Browser)
    • Back (Browser)

New Features / Changes on the VerticalMouse 3 Rev 2 when compared to the VerticalMouse 2?

  • Better Sculpting - The contouring and sculpting of the mouse has been altered to fit comfortably for a greater range of hand sizes with a deeper and lower 'notch' for the thumb, among other slight alterations
  • Gaming Grade Optical Resolution - The Avago 3080 gaming grade infrared optical sensor tracks more accurately than most laser sensors on the majority of surfaces. The Rev 2 model has a button and indicator light on the bottom of the mouse which allows the user to select the true optical resolution between 4 settings: 2600 DPI, 1800 DPI, 1300 DPI and 800 DPI. This provides even more versatility in changing pointer speed than before.
  • Detented Scroll Wheel - The optical scroll wheel now has detents (notches) which you feel when it is spun instead of the smooth rolling wheel
  • Ledge for Fifth Finger - A small flange has been added along the bottom right edge to prevent the user's fifth finger from dragging on the desk
  • Speed Toggle (XP only) - Cycle between up to 3 pointer speed settings with a keyboard shortcut or mouse button. For example, a high speed for moving between monitors, a medium speed for ordinary tasks, and a slow speed for graphics work.
  • Application - Dependent Programmable Buttons - Now you can create customized button programming for different applications so that depending on which application is active, your mouse can perform different preset programmable functions
  • Improved Internal Mechanical and Electrical Design - The internal mechanical design has been completely reconfigured resulting in improved fitting of the parts and button feel, and a completely new electrical design for improved reliability
